Intervid offers digital imaging solutions in process control, security, safety and environmental monitoring

March/April 2000 Surveillance

Intervid leads the field in being the first visual technology company to go public on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Says Managing Director Rob le Sueur, "World-class products in integrated visual management systems are installed through comprehensive consulting, design and technical competence and our customised turnkey operations bring dramatic cost savings and effective management tools."

Intervid provides integrated digital imaging solutions across a spectrum of industries. With its in-house, internationally recognised R&D division, Intervid customises unique digital imaging solutions for a wide range of disciplines too. The systems, once installed, provide information to enhance process control, staff management, security, safety and environmental monitoring.

Says le Sueur, "This multifunctional aspect gives credit to the 'educated eyes' of trained control room management who allow plant management to be everywhere at once. Advanced search capabilities mean that searching for a specific incident can take place in a fraction of the time management usually spent looking for what they want."

Digital revolution

Adds le Sueur, "With the digital revolution gaining momentum, Intervid is well positioned to develop niche products for specialised projects. Our expansion in visual management is integrated in several automated systems to enhance productivity and increase savings.

"Our digital systems can be networked and accessed remotely via PC over a variety of line options. The data is available on a random access basis, allowing the footage to be integrated pre or post event. Tags have advanced duress buttons and a special man down feature that will automatically report and position a person if he collapses in a hazardous area. These systems have full audit trails to analyse trends and provide detailed reports."

In-house expertise accommodates enhancements and modifications into the future. Systems rental options ensure that delivery is per specification and that systems are maintained at the highest standard for the entire contracted period.

Says le Sueur, "I am excited by the opportunities and challenges visual imaging solutions hold for our business - scope is international, from a proven base in South Africa."
