Anthony Rosenbaum
Anthony Rosenbaum

Full name: Anthony Steven Rosenbaum.

ESDA member since: 1992.

Current company: CMT Trading.

Current position held: Managing Director.

HTSS: How can ESDA make a difference in the security industry?

AR: The members of ESDA all play a key role in the South African the security industry. By ensuring that we stand together as a unified body, our input in the form of technical enterprise, training, quality standards and general lobbying, will be utilised and will influence the industry positively.

HTSS: Can ESDA impact on the level of professionalism in the security industry and how?

AR: Yes, ESDA in essence represents an industry that has become highly sophisticated with respect to technology, and therefore professionalism has become even more important than ever. ESDA can, through its technical training program, not only impact on the level of professionalism, but also the level of technical competency.

HTSS: Should companies that both import and install security equipment be eligible for ESDA membership?

AR: Yes. Although ESDA currently only represents those companies that import and manufacture electronic security products. I feel that ESDA should open its doors to all importers of such products whether they install or not. The market has changed, strategies have changed, therefore ESDA must change. If we want to obtain realistic statistics relating to our industry, we all need to participate, not only part of the industry.

HTSS: Why does ESDA think that it is important to support end-user satisfaction?

AR: The end-users are in actual fact one of our key areas of business and growth. Although they are not direct customers of ours, their perception of our industries, our own customers, our products, etc are vital to the success of our industry.

HTSS: How does ESDA add value to the industry?

AR: ESDA should be a source of information to our members. By keeping our members informed and up-to-date they will be able to operate at a more effective level. Adding value in our industry today is what will assist us in keeping abreast of the many changes in the market and in technology. ESDA should funnel this information in the form of added value input to members.
