T&A mobile apps developed

Econz Wireless has announced that its Timecard and Timecard Lite mobile time and attendance applications have been redeveloped in code native to mobile devices. This delivers faster response times as well as at least 30% savings in battery-life.

“Because our apps use GPS to track attendance and location of the phone user, we are acutely aware the apps need to be as agile and lean as possible,” says Harry Lane, VP global channel sales for Econz. “We know that field workers have to log in and out, be tracked for location and service calls, as well as reporting on jobs or sales visits.

“To ensure that our apps use as little battery life as possible, we have redeveloped them using code native to the device’s operating system and thus far have completed our two most used apps – Timecard and Timecard Lite – to native apps for Android, BlackBerry and Apple. Our full service Eservice app will also be completed within the next month.”

Lane says there’s nothing more frustrating than running out of phone battery half way through your work day. “I travel the world and I’m armed with car chargers, power packs, etc, to recharge during the day, so any app that is native to my phone is a real bonus.”

In addition, he says, the trend towards bigger screens has decreased battery life, and with mobile apps no longer an option, efficient delivery and use is vital.

“Uptake of our mobile solutions in South Africa has been excellent and we know that many users are in remote locations, sometimes with poor signals – all battery hoggers. When we consider users such as construction workers, especially the supervisor who logs in and out up to 30 workers using Timecard, an additional 30% battery life is a blessing. There’s nothing worse than the panic of a dark screen on your phone,” he concludes.

The new Econz apps are available immediately and are being automatically rolled out to existing customers.
