MicroTouch and Phillips touchscreen solution breaks new ground.

October 99 Surveillance

SDD has introduced the MicroTouch Bravo, a slide-on device developed jointly with monitor company Philips that easily slides onto the Philips Brilliance 151AX monitor, turning it into a fully touch-enabled LCD without the need for expensive engineering changes or factory retrofitting.

"The joint solution with MicroTouch now delivers a total package for customers, ready to install and use," says Steve Hicks, European Marketing Manager for Philips. Due to the add-on approach this slide-on touchscreen solution is considerably cheaper than comparable factory engineered touch-screen monitors.

The MicroTouch Bravo enables the growing number of customers looking for touch-enabled flat panel displays to benefit from the picture clarity and ultra-slim design of the Philips LCD monitor combined with Micro-Touch's touchscreen technology. It is ideal for touchscreen use where space is at a premium, from dealing rooms to point-of sale environments.

"MicroTouch's capacitive touchscreen technology is among the most sensitive and responsive in the industry today. It offers the shortest touch contact requirement, high resolution and better accuracy," says Sartini.

Monitors incorporating MicroTouch's capacitive touch technology stand up to rough handling, are scratch-resistant and impervious to screen contaminants such as dirt, water, grease and chemicals. MicroTouch will be responsible for all engineering and production of the touchscreen elements. All MicroTouch products are backed up by the company's extensive support organisation and the MicroTouch Bravo has a five-year warranty.
