Yale fire safe

March 2012 Products & Solutions

The Yale Fire Safe has been created to protect valuables in the event of a fire. The safe has been tested thoroughly, both in our internal labs and with independent external testing institutes to withstand extreme temperatures and high humidity. A fire test is performed in a furnace where the safe is brought up to a temperature of 927°C – simulating the extreme temperatures that occur during a house fire.

The safes are built with the latest technology in fire insulation which allows more room for valuables inside the safe due to more compact cavity walls. This technology ensures up to one-hour fire protection for documents. In addition the safe carries full SABS certification to SANS 751:2008 testing (handguns may legally be stored in this safe).

This sturdy, large 53 kg safe, with dimensions of 410 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm, offers an adjustable storage configuration with a removable shelf and has ample storage space to be able to accommodate A4 lever arch files if required. Located at the top of the safe is a drawer where jewellery or money can be stored.

The safe also boasts the latest in its locking technology with a touch interface keypad. This keypad offers the user a defined 4–12 digit user code with over one billion possible combinations. In addition, the safe also offers a one-time user code. (This function is for guests who will use the safe for a short period of time.) The digital interface also features a ‘fake pin function’. This allows the user to insert random numbers prior to the correct pin in case there is an onlooker viewing the user whilst opening the safe.

If the user wishes to access their safe without anyone knowing, the Yale Fire Safe has an optional silent function, allowing the user to operate the pin code facility with only the touch pad lighting up without audible sounds. If the pin code is consecutively entered incorrectly, three times, at any stage the safe enters a time lock-out period. This period can be preset between three and nine minutes by the user, indicating the amount of time that the safe will lock the user out.

It also has a lock-down period which can be set from 1 to 48 hours. This function shuts the safe down and therefore cannot be activated for a given period, which is ideal when people are entering your property while you are away. In addition to the abovementioned attributes, the safe also features low battery warning, emergency battery override and a reset button.
