ONVIF for retail surveillance

November 2010 Products & Solutions, Retail (Industry)

The retail sector has been challenged for some time by low-resolution digital imaging that falls short of acceptable evidence when detailed footage is required.

To remedy this, SecEquip Group is introducing ONVIF-compliant, Avigilon H.264 HD IP cameras in South Africa. These units are ideally suited to the retail market, offering megapixel image clarity and digital and optical zooming from within the Avigilon Control Centre interface.

The new Avigilon H.264 HD IP megapixel dome cameras, with 3-9 mm optical zoom, easily captures and transmits detail at the point-of-sale – providing coverage of the cash exchange process and image detail to positively identify both cashier and customer. Avigilon H.264 box cameras, with integrated 4,7-84,6mm motorised zoom lens, can bring image detail of activity at the end of long aisles to the fore, keeping watch over shelf stock. SeqEquip installation partner MultiVid has successfully installed Avigilon cameras in retail giant Edcon’s stores.

Combined with the new Avigilon Control Center 4.6 network video management software, Avigilon HD H.264 IP cameras deliver predictable high quality, low-latency video to allow store owners to quickly access indisputable evidence.

HD H.264 IP cameras

Avigilon HD H.264 IP cameras deliver low-latency, megapixel and HD performance to customers who are looking to capture high quality surveillance footage while minimising bandwidth and storage requirements. Available in 1 and 2 MP resolutions, these ONVIF-compliant cameras come in a full line of dome and box body, interior and exterior models. Designed for ease of installation and superior image quality, all models include a fully motorised lens that provides remote zoom and focus and are powered over Ethernet to eliminate the need for external power.

The new Avigilon HD H.264 IP cameras deliver the following features and benefits:

* Easy installation using remote zoom and focus to ensure image quality.

* ONVIF compliance provides support for leading third party network video management.

* H.264 compression technology.

* Storage at high frame rates.

* Multiple independent streams allow optimisation of storage and bandwidth.

* Low-light performance and sensitivity to IR illuminators.

* Power-over-Ethernet means that no external power is required.
