Nortech International, a Pietermaritzburg-based firm, secured the parking guidance system for the parking facility underneath the National Stadium, often referred to as the Bird’s Nest, in Beijing. IdentiPark, the intelligent parking guidance system designed and manufactured by Nortech was selected against world-wide competition and installed at the stadium.
The system accurately indicates what space is available before entering the parking facility and then guides the driver with illuminated arrows and message signs to the most convenient areas of minimal congestion where the occupancy of the parking spaces is shown by red and green lights. This provides a person with a hassle free method of finding parking, especially in Beijing which is rapidly becoming congested and extremely polluted despite major clean-up efforts for the games.
In fact the IdentiPark system’s green credential through its unique low use of power was amongst the factors that swayed the decision.
