The Matrix

March 2006 Products & Solutions

Taking control of a surveillance system has been made easier with the introduction of the Panasonic Matrix System 650 - a sophisticated, yet simple to operate configuration of top-performing closed circuit video equipment components from the Panasonic product portfolio.

Imported to and distributed in South Africa exclusively by NPC (Electronics) (Panasonic), the Matrix System 650 offers the following performance capabilities:

Support for up to 256 RS485 remote-controlled cameras (using eight video input boards), with all channels connected via coaxial, multiplex cables (up to 1200 m long). This not only simplifies the installation and reduces the number of cables required, but also allows control of pan, tilt and other lens motions by multiplex data over coaxial cable.

Output support for up to 32 monitors (using two video output boards), with displayed information including multilingual menus, alarm history display (up to 10 000 alarms) and a character display comprising date, time, camera number, camera title and event information.

Support for up to 16 W-HD300A Series digital disk recorders (using two video output boards), which enable remote surveillance of the system from the PC platform.

Support for the simultaneous use of up to 16 WV-CU650 system controllers and a PC.

Finely tuned management of up to 60 users, with individual level and priority settings - the latter enabled by an intuitive set-up menu on the WJ-SX650 Series administrator console.

The maximum system size of the Matrix System 650-256 cameras and 32 monitors - is managed by four WJ-SX650 Matrix Switcher/WJ-SX650U Card Cages (housing the requisite video input/output boards). A rich array of sequence, alarm and scheduling features accommodate every surveillance need; including support for up to 1024 alarm inputs (terminal, camera, recorder, serial, video loss) and up to 64 alarm outputs. Up to 10 000 alarms can be stored, with alarm histories downloadable to PC to facilitate management thereof.
