Get the picture with MemoCar

October 2005 Asset Management

Video Domain Technologies has developed a monitoring solution for business vehicles. The MemoCam range won best product awards at both IFSEC and ISC. The range includes MemoCar, a mobile version of MemoCam. This provides in-vehicle event image recording in a compact, low-profile installation. MemoCar records high quality digital images on a removable multimedia card for immediate review on a pocket PC or later analysis using a PC and multimedia card reader. The images are encrypted, dated and time stamped for integrity. MemoCar is easily installed using a regulated power adapter for 12 V d.c. vehicle batteries or a 'plug-and-go' cigarette lighter adapter.

Delivery vehicle systems can be installed unobtrusively in the cargo area using pinhole cameras. The MemoCar can be activated by a digital grid, an alarm or a door switch. Thousands of pictures can be taken and stored on the memory card, giving an accurate record of the day's deliveries. The MemoCam digital activation system can then be programmed to snap pictures every time an item is off-loaded from the back of the vehicle. Visual evidence is then available of who is unloading your vehicles and which goods are being removed. A sure way of preventing staff 'selling their goods' from vehicles or simply stealing stock from the trucks. The multiple applications of the MemoCar system also include monitoring who is driving your vehicle, and when, helping you to complete the picture of the days events. The fuel tank area can also be monitored by pictures being taken every time someone fills or removes fuel from the vehicle.

MemoCar can increase vehicle security in buses by recording the activities of passengers, documenting and preventing crimes, and validating legal and insurance claims. Bus companies can use the MemoCar system to check on passenger counts and ticket sales.

These products are now being distributed in South Africa by Emergency Reaction Services.
