Sherlotronics releases new access control receiver

Sherlotronics has announced the local availability of a new version of its long range one and four channel 500 m receiver product line, for use in home automation and security systems.

Designed, developed and manufactured at Sherlotronics’ premises in Randburg, the Long Range Receiver empowers home owners with complete remote control over their home environment.

“The new receivers are housed in a smaller weatherproof ABS housing, which can be installed virtually anywhere on the premises,” says Simon Knott, MD of Sherlotronics. “From there, home owners can manipulate their gates, lights, appliances and security from as far away as 500m.”

It has become clear that the home security arena is heading toward a major shift, which will see greater integration between home security and home automation. New technologies like these allow companies like Sherlotronics to further develop, enhance and ultimately change the way consumers view security advancing, the way they live and manage their lifestyles.

Knott says home owners in South Africa are used to being able to open their garden gates and even garages remotely from their cars but assures that the level of safety experienced by those who return home and can do something as simple as turn on their home lights at the same time is unsurpassed.

The technology involved in creating this receiver is advanced and includes the ability to remotely configure slave remotes at a click of a button. Gone are the days of fiddling with jumpers on the PC board - with Master Remote Programming features, users and installers need only locate the master remote to programme up to 63 more units quickly.

The Receiver offers 500 m open field line of site and includes crystal-controlled noise reduction features that enhance the unit’s capacity to communicate efficiently.

Sherlotronics also designs all of its access control devices with inbuilt KeeloQ code hopping encryption, which makes its access control receivers virtually impenetrable.

The KeeloQ technology uses a complex non-linear algorithm to scramble the transmission sequence circumventing code capturing since a different code is used with every click of the user’s remote controls, which means that code tracking criminals are unable to calculate remote control keys, no matter how many transmissions they capture, lessoning the risk of unauthorised entry.
