Rent-to-own perimeter

Residential Estate Security Handbook 2016 - Vol 1 Residential Estate (Industry)

Budgetary constraints often reduce the chance of implementing adequate security measures on residential estates. An affordable solution is the full maintenance lease option offered by Elf Rentals. MD Puffer Hartzenberg explains that the company’s offerings eliminate capital outlay, while providing ongoing maintenance and upgrading of technology to residential estates.

The company has an extensive portfolio which includes perimeter security fencing and the monitoring thereof, access control systems, biometric scanning, gate control systems, vehicle scanning systems, booms and surveillance systems.

The company has amassed a wide range of clients in the residential, industrial and commercial sectors, with over 40% of its market based in Port Elizabeth and 60% in Gauteng, specifically in Midrand. Hartzenberg cites a number of high-profile estates like Jackal Creek Golf Estate, Cedar Lakes, Sarranton Estate and Copper Leaf Golf Estate.

The aim is to indicate that the client no longer needs to source technology from multiple suppliers, as well as appointing a monitoring company and a maintenance service provider. With all these elements catered for by Elf Rentals, the estate manager is freed up to focus on his core business. Hartzenberg adds that the company is product agnostic but does have preferred suppliers. Due to this approach it is able to take over existing installations or to replace them with ones that are more suitable to the specific estate.

He continues that events such as this provide the company with an excellent opportunity to present its offerings to a niche group of end users. While it is difficult to accurately measure results, the event was a good branding exercise. The ability to engage with estate managers from across the spectrum was particularly advantageous to Elf Rentals and allowed interaction with existing as well as prospective clients.
