September 2014 News & Events

Security & Communication Warehouse (SCW) is a CCTV and electronic security equipment distributor that provides effective integration support backed by years of expertise in the field, and thus guaranteed as a market leader since 1997.

The company’s product range includes a diversity of brands such as Dynacolor and Digi-IT, FullVision, Napco, Controlsoft and Safran, Centurion and Nemtek, just a few to mention. Canon IP (network) cameras are classed as one of the tier-1 brands which SCW stocks, with anything from mini domes and box cameras to smaller and larger PTZ cameras.

Canon has recently launched the new compact 720P range which offers a great value proposition for retail, commercial, education, hospitality and business environments. These ultra-compact mini network camera models are built to deliver superb image quality and low light performance with minimal set-up time.

The compact 720P range is available in two models; the VB-S805D which is a fixed mini dome camera, and the VB-S905F which is a fixed box camera. Both cameras are designed for indoor environments such as airports, casinos, banking and smaller retailers. These compact cameras have a resolution of 1.3MP, can multi-stream (2x H.264, 3x MJPEG) in HD or lower resolutions and are able to do edge recording/playback from a micro SD card (up to 64 GB).

Both cameras have six intelligent in-built analytics and have Auto Smart Shade Control which applies optimum exposure in difficult lighting conditions. The VB-S805D has a wide angle f/1.6 Canon lens which offers a 95° angle of view whereas the VB-S905F offers 96°. The VB-S805D is very compact in size and measures 120 mm in diameter and 54 mm in height. The VB-S905F is ideal in a wide range of indoor commercial environments and both models are ONVIF v2.2 and are Profile S compliant.

SCW customers can view the latest technology of the above-mentioned brands in the onsite HD demonstration room which offers free and instant demonstrations, including the recommended NVR and DVR software, such as Mirasys.

Mirasys is at the forefront of acquisition, analysis, storage and presentation of high definition video and audio. A full open platform approach ensures easy integration of cameras, with over 1500 camera models already supported. Full ONVIF support further increases the range of cameras supported, any type of VCA can also be integrated on the system.

Apart from supporting the widest range of cameras possible, Mirasys aims to provide an all-in-one software package to suit a wide range of applications. Ease of use in viewing cameras and playback, installation and system management reduces installation time and increases customer satisfaction, which leads to lower operating costs. Unrivalled scalability allows the system to be expanded as the customer’s requirements propagate. Continuous updates of IP cameras and legacy analogue support, ensures that the system stays current within the market place.
