Network insight benefits business

September 2019 Infrastructure, Products & Solutions

The computer network has evolved to the heart and artery system of your business. It transports data, voice, video, group chat, payments and the Internet. Without the network, your business is pretty much disconnected from everything. Why would you leave it unattended, unmonitored, open to security threats and not growing with your business needs? It’s like wearing the same t-shirt as when you were 16. You think it still fits, but it probably doesn’t.

Businesses today rely heavily on services that keep their customers engaged, connected and happy. Netgear’s recent Bye-Bye Bad Wi-Fi survey of more than 1000 SMMEs confirmed this. According to the survey, 61% said that offering a good Wi-Fi connection to their customers was very important to their business, and 48% said it is critical to customer retention.

That’s where Insight comes in. IT can be difficult and time consuming, but Netgear has designed an app that is straightforward and simple to use. The Insight app provides not only ease of access to your network from any remote location, but also simplified device discovery and setup, warnings, notifications, and status checks.

Quick setup

Gone are the days when you would have to put a weekend aside just to get your network set up. With an Insight device, setup is virtually as easy as removing it from its box. For example, take an Insight switch, all you have to do is plug it in, and then watch as the app quickly finds the device. Then, configuration can all be done through your app or cloud portal. You can preconfigure the device in another location and send the device to wherever you need it to be installed.

Secure cloud services

The Insight Pro cloud back-end technology and mobile apps are secure, it saves time with service delivery, user management, and the ability to completely manage highly distributed networks remotely. Miercom tested Netgear Insight Pro against other industry offerings in the application’s capability to handle the specific needs of Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to maintain multiple clients. They noted that Insight Pro is the ideal “low-cost, multi-function solution that enables administrators to maintain seamless, effortless control over a complex system right at their fingertips.”

Insight Pro allows you and your managed service provider to take advantage of IT automation and cloud efficiency. It is important for the relation with your service provider to have them always account for the time spent with each event or incident by logging everything they do – including labour time – in a ticket. The single pane-of-glass management in Insight is easy to use and efficient, regardless of geographical location and guarantees a struggle-free experience when working on your networks, dealing with incidents, firmware updates, changes and configurations. Insight Pro will figure out quickly where there are bottlenecks, and assist with a wide range of metrics viewable through logging and reports.

Mobile support

Insight has a fully functional mobile application support – manage any customer network from any location with Insight for iOS or Android. You or your service provider can set up a network device anywhere in under 10 minutes. You can even preconfigure a device and have someone else drop it off at another location. Once booted up, the device will auto-configure and connect to your Insight management cloud.

“Insight Pro’s network management functionality represents the growing shift towards cloud-based solutions; which reduce cost while offering more value than its competitors,” says Tobie van Schalkwyk, product specialist at Duxbury Networking.

With Netgear Insight you can:

• Easily install your Insight network switches, access points and ReadyNAS storage with a quick scan.

• Reboot an IP phone, access point or other PoE device from anywhere.

• Check your Wi-Fi network activity from any screen, anywhere, anytime.

• Remotely manage your network locations at your convenience.

• Register any Netgear piece of equipment with a few touches – from the app.

• Easily access Help and Netgear support with all relevant information on one screen.
