iLegal 2019: Putting a face on surveillance services

1 August 2019 News & Events, Conferences & Events

iLegal is the surveillance industry’s premier one-day conference hosted jointly by Hi-Tech Security Solutions and Dr Craig Donald. iLegal 2019 will be held on 12 September 2019 at The Rosebank Crowne Plaza in Johannesburg.

The conference will focus on the ways and means companies and individuals can realise the full potential of their CCTV installations through the use of new technologies as well as well-trained people.

Augmented surveillance services

Have you ever been tasked with selecting a new surveillance service provider? Kevin van Zyl went through the process and will be on hand to describe the process he went through to select a new CCTV service provider for one of the large mining groups in South Africa. It’s more than simply getting a few quotes and deciding who makes the grade.

Kevin will discuss how he developed the process to sift through the various applicants, how he had to rethink the process and requirements to obtain the service his company required, and how the final decision was made. He will also highlight how his experience can assist other companies in their search for surveillance service providers.

Facial recognition in the real world

Facial recognition is one of those technologies everyone talks about, but which everyone is also unsure about. Herman Walsh will be at iLegal 2019 talking about facial recognition, how it works and some of the current weaknesses in this technology. He will discuss the latest developments in facial recognition (such as mood analysis) and have a look into the future to see where this technology is going.

As part of his presentation, Herman will also address the current concerns about privacy and some of the international regulations that have been passed to restrict the use of facial recognition in public areas.
