Communica to distribute TVT

August 2017 Products & Solutions, Surveillance

The Communica Group recently added the TVT range of surveillance solutions to its portfolio. We asked Communica’s Ziyaad Shaboddin why the company decided to include TVT in its product arsenal.

Shaboddin says there has been a huge business shift from West to East over the past few years and the surveillance industry is no different. “South Korea was the pioneer of the East about 10 years ago, 5 years later the power shifted to Taiwan, and today it's no surprise that the leading CCTV manufacturers in the world are from China.”

The Communica Group is no stranger to high-end video surveillance systems. As far back as 2003, the Mobotix brand was introduced to South Africa by IAC (a member company of the Communica Group). “Mobotix has since been rolled out in some of the toughest conditions in the country,” Shaboddin says. “Over 1000 cameras have been deployed in the deep and dark corners of Lonmin Platinum mine in the Rustenburg area, and its reach extends as far as the bright and beautiful beaches in the Western Cape where it monitors ports and people.”

TVT was just a no brainer to add to the Communica portfolio, he adds. “In our mind it's a perfect fit for our clients and their current needs.”

He adds that TVT is as flexible as the other two leading players in the local market and the brand fits the budget of the home owner. At the same time, it also fits in with the stringiest security requirements and specifications of the commercial and industrial market.

“The biggest challenge with most system integrators and installers we speak to on a daily basis is that there is almost no margin left in selling the other major brands out there (between 1% and 4% at best). TVT is here in SA to offer the lowest and most competitive pricing to the end user, without hurting the other players in the channel. For us all to succeed there needs to be something in it for all the stakeholders throughout the value chain.”

When discussing the benefits TVT offers to his customers, Shaboddin notes the quality of the product itself, as well as the option of cameras with 4K resolution and H.265 compression. Clients will be able to rely on a three-year warranty for their products, but Communica will consider offering up to five-year warranties to loyal partners for special projects. Communica will also consider offering a swap-out/carry-in warranty in the near future for its loyal system integrators and installers.

For projects where other brands are also used, Shaboddin notes that TVT is 100% ONVIF compliant and it also integrates with well-known video management software vendors, such as NUUO.
