Peripheral Vision supplies Barco control room solutions

August 2016 News & Events, Surveillance

Visualisation specialist Barco has appointed Peripheral Vision as the South African distributor for its networked audiovisual (AV) solutions, which include state-of-the-art video walls for control rooms. The two partners recently held an open house at Peripheral Vision’s head office in Kyalami to highlight the new partnership and showcase Barco’s wide range of visualisation solutions – including hands-on demonstrations of Barco’s control room technology.

Peripheral Vision now distributes Barco’s networked AV solutions, as well as projectors, image processing solutions and Clickshare – Barco’s meeting room collaboration system.

The event also marked the launch and demonstration of Barco’s new operator workspace solution, OpSpace, in the South African market – a first for Africa. Designed for use in control rooms, OpSpace ensures that the operator has access to all relevant information on a single workspace – consisting of a number of displays on his or her desk. With only one keyboard and mouse, the operator can monitor and interact with multiple applications that reside on networks with different security clearances. The system’s stability, flexibility and robustness have been tested rigorously to prevent any failure, making sure that OpSpace is ready for use in 24/7 control rooms.

“Barco’s high end offering meets our stringent criteria for quality, innovation and support and this partnership offers many growth opportunities for both companies,” said Wynand Langenhoven, CEO of Peripheral Vision and chairman of the South African Communication Industry Association (SACIA). Barco vice president for MEA, Eric Brouwers added, “Peripheral Vision is well known for its expertise and competence, as well as for its commitment to back up its solutions with professional services and support. We are confident that it can deliver the complex solutions that today’s clients are looking for.”
