SAIS offers third professional development seminar

SAIS extends an invitation to all safety and security managers, facilities managers and senior management to attend its latest seminar on the integration of security with occupational health and safety and fire and life safety.

This seminar is the third of a series of continual professional development events focused upon the latest trends and conversations in security and risk management for security professionals, risk managers and decision makers within the safety and security environment.

The event will be held on Wednesday 20th April 2016 from 09h00 to 12h00. It will be held at the Italian Club: 7 Marais Road, Bedfordview, Germiston, 2008.

The keynote speaker is Colin Ackroyd, ARM, F.I.S.(SA), FIRMSA. Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Colin Ackroyd was the risk manager for a Tsogo Sun company that operated 96 hotels in Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands and the Middle East, where he was instrumental in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Organisational Resilience Model.

Colin’s particular specialisation is in high-rise life safety and occupational health and safety, as well as security, environmental and business continuity management. He is a current member of the ASIS Fire and Life Safety Council and their Technical Committee developing an Organisational Resilience Standard.

He is also a member of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Technical Committee 292: Security and Resilience, and chairs its subcommittee on Security and Fraud Countermeasures.

Colin will be joined for the seminar by other industry experts in the fields of occupational health and safety, and fire and life safety.

The cost for the seminar is R150 for SAIS members and R200 for non-members. Bookings should be made by telephone or email before 1pm on Monday 18th April 2016. Cancellations before 1pm on Monday 18th April will be refunded in full. However, no refunds will be given for cancellations after that time
