Paxton Access is marking the first anniversary of a charitable partnership with Computers 4 Africa, a charity that equips children with the necessary skills to work in a global environment. It does this by supplying computers to those that would otherwise not have the opportunity to use, or access a computer at school.

Over the past year 2712 children have benefited from the computers, laptops and IT equipment donated by Paxton to schools and community projects across the continent.

Sharon Roberts, business development manager at Computers 4 Africa said: “Our partnership with Paxton has made a huge difference, helping us to turn dreams into a reality for young people across Africa. The equipment the company has donated is used to help empower students, increasing their career options and earning potential. Corporate donations, such as the arrangement we have with Paxton really are life changing.”

Computers 4 Africa works with a number of community projects across the continent. In South Africa, Paxton’s donations have been helping the Thanda charity, a non-profit organisation that supports and educates over 400 orphans and vulnerable children through after-school programmes in the rural KwaZulu-Natal province.

In Kenya, equipment has been donated to the Maisha Bora centre and the Kyamutwoi Community Polytechnic, enabing IT training to be delivered to the local community.

Twenty-one year old Zipporah Nyokabi Mwangi joined Maisha Bora in March 2015, she said: “I now have a chance to make changes in my life. I will be able to apply for jobs working with computers. My career dream is in business management. Nowadays without computer knowledge, life will be so hard and unsatisfying. Every job application needs a person who is well trained in computers.”

Paxton, expanded its business into South Africa last year and having spent time integrating and immersing in the country, the company decided to give something back. The partnership with Computers 4 Africa fits well with the company’s ethos of education; it invests significantly in the free education and training of its installers worldwide.

Commenting on the year long relationship, Dan Drayton, Paxton sales manager said, “We are delighted that our support for Compuers 4 Africa continues to be a success. All the staff at Paxton, have been proud to hear about how our donations have been making a such a difference to young lives across Africa.”
