Local EAS expertise from TagTron

October 2015 Integrated Solutions, Security Services & Risk Management, Retail (Industry)

Today’s retailers agree that simply placing a security guard at the store entrance is not an efficient way to reduce losses. In the current economy, retailers are also under the whip and are being pressured to increase profitability, while reducing prices. The only way to achieve this is by raising operational efficiencies and only spending on items that provide measurable benefits. EAS is a proven method of protecting stock without requiring an increase in personnel.

TagTron Solutions was one of the sponsors at Retail Risk 2015. The company develops, markets, installs and maintains electronic article surveillance (EAS) products, including hardware equipment, a growing range of tags, consumables and anti-theft solutions, that are manufactured by its sister company, Bell Oak, South Africa’s only local manufacturer of complete EAS Solutions.

TagTron Research is the dedicated in-house R&D entity dedicated to the development and innovation of anti-theft solutions, and positions TagTron Solutions to offer customised solutions to its clients.

TagTron has strategic and exclusive agreements with chosen partners to provide clients with a wide range of loss prevention and operational solutions. The solution portfolio includes a broad range of EAS technologies, including acousto magnetic (AM), radio frequency (RF), electro-magnetic (EM) and radio frequency identification (RFID) systems that enable them to serve clients across the retail spectrum as well as libraries, hospitals, universities, all government entities as well as non-governmental industries.

TagTron Solutions is ISO 9001:2008 certified to ensure the products and services provided adhere to the highest quality standards and is a Level 2 BEE contributor. It has a national footprint with branches in Cape Town, Gauteng, Durban and Port Elizabeth, as well as accredited agents throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Adding value

TagTron stands for valuable, cost effective EAS solutions that add measurable value to clients, identified in the following table:

• Tailor-made EAS solutions

• Aiming to enhance the efficiency of EAS by providing value added services

• Gaining insight of challenges each retailer faces on a daily basis

• Training and support

• Reliable and robust technology

• Ongoing R&D of unique EAS tags, labels and systems

• National representation, call centre and support

Increasing customer service

While EAS systems are generally viewed as security and risk management solutions, which they are, Bonita Read, TagTron’s Gauteng business manager, explains they are also a means to improved customer service.

“EAS assists retailers to better manage store inventory, reduce lost sales and afford staff members more time to spend with customers,” Read says. “It can further be used to increase customer service and satisfaction by reducing out-of-stock situations and low inventory by having more high-risk products on display and within customers’ reach at any given time.”

TagTron’s RFID solutions can be integrated into third-party management solutions, such as the KemasNet Systems. This allows companies to extend the value of their RFID systems into areas such as access control, asset management (track & trace) and HR, amongst others. It also allows for more efficient managing of assets, firearms and keys (to name just a few examples), through the intelligent integration of RFID with CCTV and biometric identification of employees, contractors and visitors.
