Renting for better performance

January 2015 Residential Estate (Industry), News & Events, Conferences & Events

Chris Lovemore of Elf Rentals believes that estate managers often operate in a vacuum, with little apparent contact with the supplier of security products to their estate. The seminar provided a critical interface between suppliers, installers and end users.

Elf Rentals has a unique business model that sees the company financing the security systems that it installs. The company then manages and maintains the estate at a fee that includes the regular monthly repayments on the investment.

The company was able to demonstrate its specialised software and its targeted security solutions. Lovemore points out that perimeter fencing is often regarded as the poor cousin to access control and surveillance systems. However, it forms the first line of contact and defence and therefore it is critical to the successful securing of an estate.

The company therefore provides custom designed galvanised electric fencing divided into monitored zones using the top of the range insulators and maintained on a monthly basis to ensure a secure perimeter. Fences are powered using Stafix energisers and are monitored for faults using Elf’s proprietary electronic monitoring system via available WiFi networks. In addition to electric fences, Elf installs and maintains access control and CCTV systems, including thermal imaging solutions.

The company has provided systems for over 100 residential estates of varying sizes throughout the country, including Jackal Creek Golf Estate and Copperleaf Golf & Country Estate in Gauteng, and Lovemore Heights and Melsetter Estates in Port Elizabeth. It designs, manufactures and installs galvanised sliding or leaf gates powered by Centurion gate motors. Access control and surveillance systems are selected according to customer needs and all systems are integrated onto a common platform and monitored by Elf Rentals.
