Supply chain synergy and symbiosis

January 2015 Residential Estate (Industry), News & Events, Conferences & Events

Gus Brecher of Cathexis, who was also a speaker at the seminar, says that events like this are an excellent forum for suppliers, installers and end users in the residential estate security sector. Not only was the seminar and exhibition extremely well supported by the KwaZulu-Natal market, but it indicated the synergy and symbiosis that exists between each member in the supply chain.

The Cathexis stand showcased both analytics capabilities as well as the importance of the control room environment. Brecher says that the seminar underlined the growing popularity of analytics in the residential estate security market and provided the attending estate managers with a number of instances where analytics can enhance their current security installation and provide a return on investment. Brecher cautions that advice from experienced integrators/installers or consultants is crucial as in some instances a combination of beams and analytics could be more beneficial than using just one or the other alone.

CathexisVision video management software has a number of powerful features and integrated control room environment reduces the risk of human error, enables management of notifications from multiple systems via single user interface as well as providing vastly improved forensic analysis of events and associated video.

The VMS allows the integration of multiple systems like fence-monitoring systems, access control, alarm panels and fire panels with video provides a dramatically improved efficiency and accuracy of residential estate security systems.

Brecher says that the company has seen a growing demand in the past few years for systems employing analytics within the residential estate sector which coincided with the growth in popularity of thermal cameras. This parallels the popularity of analytics in commercial and industrial property applications, which has a similar ingress and egress profile. In the past two years, Cathexis has seen a doubling of orders for the residential estate market.
