Suprema launches fingerprint scanner SDK for Android

September 2014 Products & Solutions

Suprema announced the launch of their fingerprint scanner software development kit (SDK) for Android operating system (OS).

The new SDK is designed for use with Suprema’s latest fingerprint scanner, the BioMini Slim. The Android SDK with BioMini Slim enables mobile enrolment and verification and caters for harsh environmental conditions such as direct sunlight of up to 100 000 LUX.

With a high speed of 15 fps (frames per second), the new SDK supports a ‘Live Preview’ making the BioMini Slim on Android a fully-fledged live capture device for any biometric identity management solution. Suprema is the first to provide a Live Preview function on mobile devices in the ID solutions market.

Alongside the launch of the new SDK, Suprema revealed a free of charge mobile Android app for product demonstration to potential BioMini Slim users. The app provides a rich and intuitive user experience in Suprema ID solutions, including product and technology information, as well as a product demonstration. Anyone using an OTG compliant Android device can download the app on Google Play Store by searching for ‘Suprema’ or ‘Suprema Fingerprint Solution’.

As is the case with other applications, tablets and smartphones are replacing desktops or notebooks as a platform to collect and verify biometric identity. In the near future Suprema expects to see even more integration of biometrics and mobility.

BioMini Slim maintains the highest standards by receiving both FBI-PIV, FIPS 201 and mobile ID FAP 20 certifications and offers NIST certified interoperable image and template format standards (ANSI-378/ISI 19794-2/ISO 19694-4) with WSQ image compression. It has a rugged IP65 rated dust and waterproof form factor as well as Suprema’s advanced LFD (Live Finger Detection) technology.
