Going HD on analogue

Hitek Security Distributors has announced the launch of the latest HD technology from ProvisionISR.

Until a few years ago, the only available option for high definition surveillance systems was to use network IP cameras which are typically more expensive and almost always more difficult to set up. With the advent of SDI technology for security cameras, users can now capture 720P resolution video using the same RG59 or RG6 coaxial cable that is used by traditional CCTV (analogue) cameras.

Since the coaxial cables are used for analogue systems, they have significant unused data spectrum available. It is a simple matter to just replace the camera and the recorder to obtain nearly seven times higher detail (1280x720) than the original camera. And since coaxial cable is capable of carrying multiple HDTV channels simultaneously, there is still more unused data capacity available for future resolution improvements.

This new SDI platform is pivotal information for existing CCTV users who have invested in expensive coaxial cabling installations, and now are in the market to upgrade their system to HD because they are able to use their existing coax cable when they upgrade. SDI CCTV cameras are capable of true 720P resolution.
