Discreet HD cameras

Axis Communications has announced the local availability of its discreet and cost-effective AXIS M1145-L and AXIS M1145 network cameras featuring full HDTV 1080p resolution and H.264 video compression with remote zoom and focus for enhanced image usability. The M1145-L is also equipped with built-in and adjustable IR LED illumination – called OptimizedIR – for discreet day and night video surveillance.

This is according to Roy Alves, regional business development manager for Axis Communications, who says the two fixed cameras enable clear identification day or night and are suited to professional indoor surveillance applications in retail stores, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and offices.

The M1145-L features built-in IR LED illumination invisible to the human eye and can discover people and objects in a range of up to 15 metres – even in complete darkness, he says.

“Network video is one of the most useful tools for fighting crime and protecting citizens, acting both to detect and deter,” says Alves. “It creates a secure environment and can help first responders to pinpoint where their assistance is most needed and the ability to do so in the dark is of prime importance to any local hospitality or retail provider.”

With a slim and compact design, the cameras offer a trouble-free surveillance solution for applications where monitoring is required around-the-clock.

Additionally, to minimise environmental impact, the plastic parts in the AXIS M1145-L and the M1145 contain 39% and 42% recycled plastic respectively.

Additional features to both cameras include:

* P-Iris lens for optimal depth of field, resolution, image contrast and clarity.

* Remote 3.5x optical zoom to ensure that the camera’s angle of view is optimised for the areas to be monitored.

* A large base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner Program, Axis Camera Station and Axis Camera Companion.

* Support for AXIS Video Hosting System for hosted video installations and ONVIF for easy camera system integration.
