New access control and monitoring system

Centurion Systems exhibited at the Cape Town Residential Estate Breakfast and presented a professional stand packed full of the company’s technology. One technology was the recently released SupaHelix access control and monitoring system, which sports a strong focus on residential and commercial security, as well as easy administration.

Founded in 1986, Centurion Systems manufactures a diverse and award-winning range of products to control the access of people and vehicles into and out of residential, commercial and industrial properties. Their products are developed in South Africa in accordance with the ISO9001-2008 quality assurance system.

SupaHelix was originally envisaged to be a standard, albeit highly advanced, multi-user remote control receiver for use in high-volume residential sites such as complexes and estates; an upgrade to Centurion’s SupaNOVA complex receiver. However, once the massive potential and virtually endless possibilities were truly identified, it was decided that SupaHelix would be a complete access control and monitoring system and a veritable tenant administration toolkit: powerful, advanced and versatile.

One of this product’s main objectives is to simplify administration; that is, adding and deleting users, viewing transaction logs, backing up the system, etc. Besides having a capacious memory allowing for the addition of up to 10 000 remote control buttons, SupaHelix also boasts a large, backlit LCD display which greatly simplifies configuration and diagnostics, robust, interference-free remote control learning and removable connectors for ease of setup and maintenance. The unit’s three channels can be individually configured as either outputs which can be used to control electrical devices such as automated gates, lights, sprinkler systems, pool pumps, etc., or inputs, making it ideal for monitoring mains power, fluid levels, or even whether the gate has been left open.

An optional plug-in GSM module not only makes it possible for up to 10 000 additional users to access the property using their mobile phones, but also enhances the SupaHelix’s offsite administration capabilities.

Utilising mobile connectivity, administers are able to add or delete users’ remote controls and access via their cellphones, edit device settings and update firmware from the comfort of their home or office via Centurion’s G-WEB online user interface. For added convenience and peace of mind, the SupaHelix GSM module also allows for over-the-air system backup ensuring that all of the system’s data, including memorised remote controls, are securely and conveniently stored offsite.
