Secure authentication technology for SME and enterprise

April 2014 Infrastructure

ESET Southern Africa has launched the latest version of its ESET Secure Authentication (ESA) technology, a two-factor authentication (2FA) software providing both SMEs and Enterprises with a more secure form of remote access to company networks and sensitive data.

According The World Economic Forum’s Global Risk report, an increase in cyber Attacks was highlighted as one of the urgent global threats for 2014. This warning comes at a pertinent time when the majority of local organisations are fast becoming wholly reliant on the Internet and mobile devices for day to day operations. Opportunistic hackers will prey on negligent employees and poorly protected devices and networks to gain access to and steal sensitive data.

Lee Bristow, security consultant at ESET commented, “Cyber threats are going to continue to grow exponentially in 2014 and companies of all sizes need to be prepared to protect their corporate data at all cost. Those without multi-factor security in place face the risk of losing critical data to external threat, damaging their reputation and in some cases face devastating revenue loss.”

The new version of ESA includes added integration flexibility provided by the Software Development Kit (SDK) and API, which will extend protection to a wider range of data and business applications.

“Adding secure access is an easy and cost effective option for businesses of all sizes to not only remove the cyber target on their back, but also eradicate the use of weak passwords and protect against unsecured networks when accessing company data remotely or via mobile device,” added Bristow.

Further feature improvements in this version includes:

* Improved installer.

* Remote desktop Web access integration.

* Compatibility with Exchange 2013 and Exchange Control Panel.

* A fresh new user interface.

Mobile device support includes iPhone, Android, BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone 7 and 8, Windows Mobile and J2ME-based phones.
