Background screening app

January 2014 News & Events

South Africa’s first mobile app for background screening has been released by Managed Integrity Evaluation (MIE) The app – dubbed MIE Touch – is available on Android and Apple smartphones and tablets. A Windows 8 version is in the pipeline and will be available soon.

The free app was designed and developed for employers, HR managers and recruiters who are constantly on the go and require real-time updates regarding background screening requests. The app saves them the hassle and inconvenience of having to carry a laptop, go online and download e-mails or login and navigate the website.

MIE’s CEO, Ina van der Merwe, says MIE Touch gives users the edge in a highly competitive industry. “The app is like background screening on fast forward! Quick answers enable quick decision-making, which has a wide range of benefits for everyone involved in the recruitment cycle, including better flexibility, improved service levels, increased capacity and reduced risk.”

As a matter of course, all background screening requests are uploaded on MIE’s website and verification results are e-mailed. Very simply, MIE Touch closes the gap and links the two ends by giving users the opportunity to:

* Search for requests that have been uploaded.

* View the details, results and/or statuses of requests that are being processed.

* Ask for verification results to be e-mailed to a mobile device.

* Check any outstanding information requests.

* Receive notifications.

* Read messages from MIE.

The above can be done anytime, anywhere. The only requirements are a compatible mobile device and Internet connectivity.

Designed and developed by the company’s team of in-house developers, who are responsible for an advanced IT infrastructure that processes up to 10 000 background screening requests daily, MIE Touch uses the latest mobile technology. DevExtreme’s multi-device development framework means MIE is able to engage a wide community of mobile device users, while managing a single interface and user experience. At the same time, VeriSign’s Secure Socket Layers (SSL) also ensure privacy and security.

“At MIE, we’re committed to a process of continuous improvement. By understanding our customers’ challenges and needs, we’ve designed and developed mobile solutions that add real value to the user experience,” says Van der Merwe. MIE Touch complements other proprietary tools, such as SmartScreen, which lets users upload background screening requests, including fingerprints, while offline. “This feature is particularly handy in remote areas, where data connectivity is an issue.”
