Canon HD cameras arrive

November 2013 Products & Solutions, Surveillance

With the arrival of Canon in the South African security market, a new range of cameras, drawing from its 70 years’ experience have become available. Canon has a Platinum Technology partnership with Mirasys to produce the most reliable IP video surveillance systems at the highest quality.

The Canon VB-H610VE is an outdoor vandal-resistant IP dome camera. Operation at 30fps at full HD resolution (1920X1080), with a wide angle lens with HFOV of 111,0° (wide) to 36,5° (telephoto) ensuring that no details are missed.

An F1.2 lens works in conjunction with Canon’s proprietary imaging technology to allow colour images at light levels as low as 0.3 lux and monochrome images at 0.015 lux. Canon’s Smart Shade Control further enhances the image by lighting up objects against bright backlights. The camera includes an IR cut filter and a special lens coating minimises ghosting.

The Web interface allows the installer to set up all parameters. The pan/tilt/rotate/zoom (PTRZ) function allows the camera view to be set up remotely from a PC, cutting down on installation time. An SD card slot allows for on-board recording, viewable directly on the Web-interface without any special software.

The camera is IP-66 rated and can also withstand impact up to 50 Joules. It is rated to operate in temperatures up to 50°C, with an optional heater the camera can operate as low as -30°C (without fogging up the lens). The VB-H610VE also support ONVIF V2.2 Profile S.
