Thermal cameras suited to mine security

June 2013 Surveillance

Thermal imaging cameras are finding their way into more and more security installations. No other technology lets you see intruders in total darkness, in practically all weather conditions. No other technology offers you a longer range performance than thermal imaging.

Still some security professionals are hesitant to put the power of thermal imaging at work. Often this has to do with the price of a thermal imaging camera. It is indeed still a bit more expensive than a CCTV camera.

FLIR FC Series S
FLIR FC Series S

With the new FC-Series S thermal imaging cameras price is no longer an obstacle to put the power of thermal imaging at work in your security network. The FC-Series S are low cost but industrial quality thermal imaging cameras in a compact package.

FC-Series S thermal imaging cameras are available in 320 x 240, and high-resolution 640 x 480 formats. To make sure that there is an FC-Series S camera for every security application FLIR Systems offers a wide variety of lenses. Longer lenses have a narrower field of view and allow you to spot intruders from further away.

Wide dynamic range delivers high contrast thermal images in the most diverse conditions. Even when the sun is in the field of view. But also in cold and low contrast thermal scenes. Ideal for working together with video analytics that need properly contrasted images in order not to generate false alarms.

The FC-Series S is a hybrid camera. Equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE), communication and power are supplied with only one cable. The FC-Series S can be integrated in any existing TCP/IP network and controlled over a PC. No additional cables are required. The FC-Series S comply with the ONVIF 2.0 standard and can therefore easily be connected in a network to work together with other sensors.

FLIR D-Series

The D-Series outdoor dome enclosure provides precision pan/tilt control while providing fully programmable scan patterns, radar slew-to-cue, and slew-to-alarm functionality. Fully enabled for control and operation over IP and serial networks. The D-series combine a thermal imaging camera with a colour CCD camera. This makes them the perfect replacement for day/night dome cameras, providing clear 24/7 imaging capability in an attractive, discrete dome-style enclosure.

The new FLIR D-Series are a lot more compact. TCP/IP compatible electronics are integrated in the camera and no longer in a separate box. This also means that the FLIR D-Series can now be can be mounted in ball up and ball down position, giving you more flexibility.

D-Series systems deploy a 640 x 480 or 320 x 240 pixel thermal imaging camera. To make sure that there is a D-Series for every security application FLIR Systems offers a wide variety of lenses. Longer lenses have a narrower field of view and allow you to spot intruders from further away. Continuous E-zoom provides enhanced alarm assessment and optimisation of camera field of view.

All versions are equipped with a long range daylight/low light camera. The daylight camera offers a 36x optical zoom and delivers high contrast thermal images in the most diverse conditions. Even when the sun is in the field of view. But also in cold and low contrast thermal scenes. Ideal for working together with video analytics that need properly contrasted images in order not to generate false alarms.
