Local talons

Turnstar, Africa’s largest manufacturer of physical access control solutions manufactures a wide range of products, including turnstiles, speedstiles, security revolving doors, man-trap cubicles and vehicle barriers, boomgates, spike barriers, hydraulic rising bollards and kerbs. The Turnstar Talon Barrier is an automatic spike barrier and provides the customer with a high level of security.

The Talon Barrier is manufactured from a combination of 3Cr12 stainless steel and 304 grade stainless steel. As the barrier is often buried in the roadway, corrosion can be a serious issue. The stainless steel construction means that the Talon Barrier is not prone to corrosion and rust. Both a recessed and surface mounted design are available for ease of installation and depending on the site conditions.

Two key features make the Talon Barrier stand out. Firstly, the Talon Barrier offers double sided protection. Each spike has two prongs ensuring that traffic from any direction will have its tyres shredded. Secondly, the spikes and barrier arm are controlled separately. When triggered to open, the spikes lower. Only once the spikes have lowered fully, does the barrier arm begin to rise. Once the barrier arm has been raised, the traffic light changes from red to green. The interlocking control ensures total safety and prevents any dangerous incidents where the barrier arm raises whilst the spikes are still in the raised position. The Talon Barrier is supplied complete with a loop detector and is designed for residential and industrial applications.
