Intersec Dubai 2013

March 2013 News & Events

Turnstar was one of the over 1000 exhibitors at this year’s Intersec Security Exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The exhibition, which hosts over 20 000 visitors, is the largest platform for security professionals in the security conscious Middle East. The show covers a broad spectrum of fields in the commercial security, information security, fire and rescue, health and safety, homeland security and policing. The exhibition was opened by deputy ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mansoor Al Maktoum.

Turnstar displayed three key products which are in high demand in the Middle East. The Triumph 4 full-height single turnstile, the Talon Tyre-Spike Vehicle Barrier which has anti-terror applications and the Speedstile Express was also on display.

Besides for Turnstar’s stand, there were a number of other interesting stands. The Dubai Police General HQ exhibited a number of its policing vehicles, motorcycles and crime fighting technologies.

High security perimeter security systems for the protection of critical infrastructure and assets were on display at the Southwest Microwave Inc. stand. Fence, buried cable and digital microwave sensor technologies from Southwest offers high levels of security and are easily installed and managed.

Based in Canada, the Streit Group is the largest privately owned armouring facility in the world. An outdoor display showed a number of their bullet resistant vehicle solutions. The armoured 4x4 F350 with gunbox and turret created quite a stir.

Multinational Naffco designs and manufactures market engineered fire safety solutions. Its range of basic fire extinguishers, through to their highly sophisticated fire engines were on display. Naffco also sponsored the outdoor fireman’s ‘race for victory’ which included competing teams from the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar and Germany.

The exhibition also hosted a number of country pavilions, including pavilions from the USA, UK, Germany, Korea and Bahrain. It is a pity that South Africa does not have its own pavilion, especially since South Africa has a highly advanced security industry.
