Ultra-high capacity wireless links

1 January 2013 Products & Solutions, Infrastructure

Providing one of the highest capacity wireless transmission solutions available at millimetre wave frequencies, the FlexPort80-3000 is an addition to the BridgeWave family of high capacity wireless links available from Duxbury Networking.

It is targeted at a wide range of applications in the public and private sectors, ranging from high-performance campus network connectivity and leased line replacement to video surveillance systems and the future-proofing of full-rate gigabit backhaul systems in next-generation, 4G networks.

The FlexPort80-3000 yields over-the-air transmission rates of 3000 Mbps, delivering the equivalent of two full-rate gigabit Ethernet, plus 400 Mbps Ethernet transmission rates – achieved through the use of two FlexPort80 terminals and an Orthogonal Mode Transducer (OMT).

“It offers low latency for fibre-equivalent performance, while frequency-agile radio frequency [RF] tuning simplifies network design and planning,” says Graham Duxbury, CEO of Duxbury Networking, who adds that the unit’s compact, outdoor design is complemented by features including forward error correction for maximum link range and efficient spectrum utilisation using Quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK).

“This effectively permits twice the data rate to be transmitted within a given bandwidth.”

Network security is addressed via the FlexPort80-3000’s narrow beamwidth antenna, which decreases the likelihood of interference. It also boasts a software option designed to provide HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) and RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-in User Service) authentication, in addition to its 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption.
