Turnstar Systems, Africa’s largest manufacturer of physical access control products was the choice when it came to securing the new Mercedes Benz Secunda dealership.

Since the relocation of Bethal’s United Motors passenger car department to the newly built Secunda facility, the need for more careful control and securing of vehicles has become essential.

United Motors houses both new and pre-owned Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi and Chrysler models. It also provides sales and servicing of commercial vehicles and trucks. In addition, a fleet of eight emergency vehicles provides a 24 hour roadside assist service.

Turnstar’s Talon automatic tyre spike vehicle barrier was chosen to boost security at this prestigious garage. Turnstar installed five Talon automatic tyre spike vehicle barriers, two at the main entrance and three at the showroom entrance.

Security of the large amount of vehicles entering and departing from the dealership on a daily basis is of paramount importance. The risk of new car theft is a major problem in the auto industry as brand new cars are only fitted with vehicle tracking once sold. Once a new vehicle has been stolen from the dealership it can be very difficult to trace.
