International airline chooses BioLite

September 2012 Access Control & Identity Management

When a large international airline relocated to larger premises in Sandton this year, it required a high level of security for their staff and IT infrastructure.

With prior experience in this technology, it looked for a reliable system, excellent service and value for money. The contract was awarded to Sentinel Biometrics who secured all external doors as well as internal restricted areas.

The Suprema BioLite Net is an IP-based fingerprint terminal with time, attendance and access control capabilities. Sealed against invasive moisture, dust and liquid, the IP65 rated structure offers extra durability, making it perfect for outdoor or indoor installations. From simple door control to complex networked environments, BioLite Net supports full time, attendance and access control functionality. BioLite Net also features illuminated keypad, LCD back light and LED indicator for visibility.

“When it comes to securing our clients, our choice of technology is based on quality products and excellent after sales service, says Jason Major, MD of Sentinel Biometrics. “We cannot compromise on the quality of our systems or installations and to add real value it has to be affordable with a short and measurable return on investment. Suprema is the perfect fit in this regard.”

The financial controller discovered that certain staff were holding doors open, even briefly, posing a potential security risk. “We asked Sentinel Biometrics what could be done and they retro-fitted sensors at each door and through advanced settings in BioStar (Suprema’s biometric management software) we are now notified by localised device alarm when a door is not secured.”

Sentinel Biometrics also enrolled the staff and defined the access permissions specific to the client’s requirements. Staff welcomed the efficiency of the new fingerprint access system.

“Overall we are very pleased with the hardware and level of service we received from Sentinel,” says the GM. “The quality of workmanship is top notch and one can see that they are committed to their clients. We are now assured that the safety of our staff and business will not be compromised”.
