Managed security solutions for organisations of all sizes

SMART Estate Security 2025 Information Security

Cyberattackers have become significantly more sophisticated and determined, targeting businesses of all sizes. PwC’s Global Digital Trust Insights Survey 2025 Africa and South Africa1 highlights the urgent need for organisations to implement robust cyber risk mitigation strategies.

If you are thinking your business is safe just because you have a firewall, think again. PwC’s findings underscore the pressing need for enhanced cybersecurity measures as organisations navigate an increasingly complex security threat landscape. A Verizon Report2 recorded the presence of ransomware in 44% of all the breaches they reviewed. This is further endorsed by the Fortinet 2025 Global Threat Report3, which reveals that in 2024, cybercriminals were found to have launched a staggering 36 000 malicious scans per second, thus weaponising automation to map and exploit digital infrastructure. It goes on to note that this year alone has seen a 42% increase in stolen credentials on the dark net and a 500% surge in logs from infostealer malware.

Multiple global research references endorse the urgency of implementing a comprehensive and robust cybersecurity plan that covers all the bases. While cost may have been considered the main barrier to achieving this in the past, the good news today for companies trying to mitigate the growing risk, is that the barriers to entry have dropped for full-service managed security services, making them accessible even to SMEs.

Ethan Searle, senior information technology specialist at LanDynamix, says that cybercriminals have become significantly more sophisticated thanks to the use of AI in their attacks. At the same time, organisations are challenged in building cyber resilience due to limited resources and a shortage of expert cyber skills.

“What we are seeing on the ground is a lot more malware deployed from the endpoint up to the server, a significant increase in ransomware, and data breaches seriously negatively impacting various sizes of businesses, even major local enterprises. Many of the companies that were hit did not have proper cybersecurity frameworks in place. Some believed that a firewall and anti-virus would be enough to protect them, but in today’s environment, these measures are definitely not enough.”

Businesses need a security operations centre

Searle emphasises that businesses today need a full suite of security services and a Security Operations Centre to provide the necessary protection.

Max Cazzavillan, sales manager at LanDynamix, notes that companies need multilayered security across multiple environments - including devices, networks, applications, people, internet, and cloud services. “Organisations may have protection in place in some areas, but if they miss just one, they become vulnerable. In addition, many lack sufficient onsite resources. They might have a level one or a level two technician, but these technicians will not have the expertise to cover everything in this environment.”

In the absence of in-house security personnel and comprehensive multi-layered security solutions, managed security services offer a viable alternative. LanDynamix, partnering with leading global cybersecurity vendors, makes managed security services accessible to even smaller businesses, offering the full suite of multi-layered security services, priced within reach. With teams of highly skilled and certified engineers as well as SIEM, SOAR, Network and Security Operation Centre (NOC/SOC) capabilities, the company is helping local businesses build their cyber resilience. Searle says the company’s services extend to supporting customers in implementing best practice governance and cybersecurity frameworks and deploying automation and AI-enabled solutions for top-of-the-line security.

De-escalation of security costs

Cazzavillan notes, “Over the past two years, we have seen the cost of these advanced solutions dropping significantly. This is partly due to rising demand, as well as the shortage of cybersecurity specialists. Also, automation and AI are enabling MSPs to offer more efficient solutions at a lower price. Vendors have been quick to build mechanisms to automate the identification of assets, consolidate telemetry, and then use AI to build a picture, create workflows, and even solve security issues for businesses. Economies of scale have brought down the pricing of these solutions. For example, the price tag of a fully-fledged security operations centre piece of software has, over the past three years alone, dropped by 50%. This puts resilience within reach of more businesses at a time when they need it most.”

Searle confirms LanDynamix is helping customers to build cyber resilience in some of the most-targeted sectors in South Africa, including finance, health, manufacturing, retail, and logistics. “The bottom line is businesses today can no longer afford to rely on traditional security solutions; they need advanced technology coupled with the right expertise to protect their entities effectively. Regardless of customer size, LanDynamix is delivering the full spectrum of security solutions and services that are crucial to businesses if they are to stay ahead of attackers’ next move, before they make it,” Searle concludes.
