4K HDR camera for mobility

Issue 2 2025 Surveillance, Transport (Industry)

e-con Systems has introduced the 4K 140 dB HDR Front view Camera, STURDeCAM88_CUOAGX, engineered to deliver reliable, long-range imaging for mobility applications such as delivery robots, autonomous vehicles, and off-road vehicles, including agricultural vehicles, mining vehicles, and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). STURDeCAM88 includes an automotive-grade OmniVision OX08B40 image sensor and supports synchronised multi-camera setup, integrating up to eight cameras with NVIDIA Jetson platforms using the GMSL2 interface.

The device delivers 4K imaging with 140 dB HDR and enhanced LED Flicker Mitigation (LFM)—even in the most challenging lighting conditions. This strategic combination powers ADAS use cases such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Pedestrian Collision Warning and Blind Spot Monitoring, enabling safer and more reliable autonomous and semi-autonomous systems.

This IP67-rated camera is compliant with road vehicle standards, including ISO 16750 and more, ensuring durability and resilience in tough environments. In addition, the stream health monitoring and recovery feature ensures reliable operation in mobility applications by continuously monitoring the health of sensor, ISP, and GMSL link.

STURDeCAM88 cameras are NDAA-compliant, ensuring secure operations and a stable supply chain by sourcing critical components from trusted global partners, while avoiding reliance on restricted entities. This compliance mitigates potential security threats and guarantees adherence to government and enterprise project standards.

“With the launch of STURDeCAM88, we are strengthening our STURDeCAM lineup to address the growing need for high-performance, 4K long-range imaging in the mobility sector,” said Suresh Madhu, head of industrial business unit at e-con Systems.

Beyond its advanced imaging capabilities, the camera will support versatile interface options, including FPD-Link, in the upcoming versions, ensuring compatibility with all major image processing platforms, such as TI and Renesas. Find out more at www.e-consystems.com.
