Wireless home surveillance

SMART Surveillance 2025 Smart Home Automation

CCTV and surveillance systems are among the most crucial elements of a 360-degree security solution, providing both real-time footage of incidents and recorded evidence when needed.

However, power and storage limitations can impact the effectiveness of a surveillance system. Extensive cabling (even with IP and PoE) for systems reliant on mains power, along with connections to and from recording devices often translates into higher costs. Mains-powered systems also require backup solutions in case of failure, and troubleshooting cable faults can be tedious and time-consuming.

Data storage is just as critical for both residential and commercial use. The successful prosecution of crimes often depends on unequivocal CCTV evidence which must be securely stored and easy to access.

New technology from EZVIZ

Now, there’s a new way to get the most from a CCTV system. EZVIZ has launched its AOV software alongside the X5S large-capacity storage solution. Always-On Video (AOV) ensures continuous recording without battery drain. EZVIZ AOV technology allows cameras to record constantly while condensing data into smaller files, compiling them into a high-speed time-lapse. When reviewing footage property owners, managers, security officers, or designated personnel can easily pinpoint key events and watch them at normal speed.

To enhance this feature further, EZVIZ AOV cameras are equipped with a PIR sensor that detects movement up to 25 m away, an improvement over traditional PIR cameras.

AOV-enabled range

EB3 4G: This AOV-enabled camera excels in outdoor environments, particularly where cabling is a challenge. Built from durable, weatherproof materials, this battery-operated device uses 4G LTE for live feeds and notifications. With smart motion detection, it easily identifies humans and vehicles, while the two-way talk feature enables real-time communication with people in the field of view.

Colour Night Vision and Active Defence (with a built-in siren and strobe light) provide added security, while the long-life battery offers protection for up to 120 days, depending on usage.

BC1c battery-powered camera: The BC1c operates for up to 180 days on a single charge. It is 100% wire-free and supports 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi. This model includes the same protective and surveillance technology as the EB3 but features a 10 400 mAh rechargeable lithium battery and supports MicroSD card storage.

X5S NVR: The X5S wireless NVR includes expandable storage, a high compression rate, and up to 100 m Wi-Fi range. The unit supports up to 8 TB of storage and can handle data and video files from up to eight connected Wi-Fi cameras. It also enables real-time monitoring of multiple cameras in 3K resolution without any loss of quality.

A feature of the X5S is its H.265 technology ensures a high-grade viewing experience while significantly reducing bandwidth and storage demands. The H.265 compression reduces file sizes by up to 50% and cuts bandwidth usage in half compared to H.264.

With EZVIZ’s innovative AOV technology and high-capacity X5S NVR, surveillance is now more efficient and reliable than ever. Continuous recording, advanced motion detection and optimised storage solutions ensure that both businesses and homeowners get the most out of their CCTV systems.
