Local innovation driving excellence in FM

Issue 2 2025 News & Events

The facilities management industry in South and southern Africa is undergoing a transformative shift, with locally manufactured products and technologies moving into the spotlight. As organisations seek cost-effective, sustainable, and high-quality solutions, home-grown innovation is proving to be a critical driver of operational efficiency and long-term success.

“Locally developed facilities management solutions are uniquely positioned to address the specific challenges of the region, including extreme weather conditions, infrastructure constraints, and evolving regulatory requirements. By fostering local manufacturing and product development, businesses can access tailored solutions that align with their needs, while also supporting economic growth and job creation,” says Mark Anderson, portfolio director at Specialised Exhibitions – a division of Montgomery Group.

The Facilities Management Expo, taking place at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 3 to 5 June 2025, focuses on a combination of local and international facilities management solutions, with a common goal in mind: enhancing the wellbeing of building occupants, and increasing productivity levels, all within budgetary requirements.

From advanced access control systems to energy-efficient HVAC solutions and intelligent building automation, home-grown technologies are proving to be game-changers for the industry. These solutions are designed with local environments in mind, ensuring reliability and ease of maintenance, while reducing dependence on costly imports.

Visitors also benefit from the seminar sessions provided at the free-to-attend Facilities Management Seminar Theatre, which is populated with valuable information on industry trends, challenges and solutions. “Visitors can also take in the four free-to-attend seminar sessions at the co-located expos, and watch the K9 demos, the SAIDSA Techman Competition, and the drone demonstrations. We encourage visitors to pre-register for free attendance at Facilities Management Expo, by visiting the show website at www.fmexpo.co.za.”

Organisations wishing to exhibit at Facilities Management Expo 2025 can contact the Facilities Management Expo team on zelda.jordaan@montgomerygroup.com or johan.vanheerden@montgomerygroup.com to book a space, or capitalise on a sponsorship opportunity.
