Securing access against unwanted visitors

November 2024 Access Control & Identity Management, Residential Estate (Industry), Products & Solutions

One of the biggest concerns in today's residential estates and complexes is preventing unauthorised access while ensuring a smooth and convenient experience for residents and approved visitors. IntelliGuard, an access control solution developed by SA Technologies, is designed specifically to tackle this challenge by offering a secure, scalable system that keeps unwanted visitors out and provides peace of mind for small- to medium-sized estates and complexes.

Securing access against unwanted visitors

The primary function of any access control system is to keep out unauthorised individuals, whether it is unexpected visitors, unregistered guests, or individuals attempting to bypass security. IntelliGuard’s advanced gate reader ensures that only those with proper permission are granted access.

1. Secure gate reader technology: IntelliGuard provides a thorough validation process for unregistered or unexpected visitors to ensure only legitimate individuals gain entry. Visitors must first scan their driver’s license to validate their identity. Following this, they select the unit and resident they wish to visit.

The system then initiates a video call to the resident, adding an extra layer of validation. Unlike traditional systems that rely solely on voice calls, which only allow for voice verification, IntelliGuard’s video call feature enables residents to verify both the voice and the face of the visitor before deciding to grant or deny access. This dual-verification approach greatly reduces the risk of impersonation or unauthorised access.

2. Remote access control for residents: Using the IntelliGuard mobile app, residents can further control access from anywhere, whether they are at home or away. They can remotely unlock the gate for pre-approved visitors or deny access to unexpected ones. This makes it virtually impossible for unwanted visitors to enter without explicit permission from a resident.

3. Layered security measures: IntelliGuard combines a number of security features that work together to ensure robust access control. By relying on encrypted data transmission, video validation, and secure QR/PIN codes for pre-booked visitors, the system adds multiple layers of protection against unauthorised access.

How IntelliGuard enhances overall security

While keeping unwanted visitors out is the primary focus, IntelliGuard also streamlines the overall access process for residents and enhances the security infrastructure of the estate or complex.

1. Independent visitor access: Visitors with pre-booked appointments can validate their identity through a QR code or PIN, eliminating the need for physical gatekeepers. This independent access process speeds up entry for approved visitors, while preventing unauthorised access.

2. Smart alerts and notifications: IntelliGuard provides real-time alerts to residents and estate managers about visitor activity. Estate managers can also send out notifications and updates to residents, improving communication and awareness across the community.

3. Uninterrupted access control: Load shedding and power outages will not disrupt access control operations. IntelliGuard’s gate reader comes equipped with a backup battery that can last up to 3–4 hours, ensuring that security remains intact even during power failures.

A solution for small to medium estates

Small and medium-sized estates often struggle to find access control systems that balance affordability with security. IntelliGuard offers a scalable, cost-effective solution that fits this niche perfectly. By eliminating the need for an on-site guard and allowing residents to manage access themselves, IntelliGuard reduces both overhead and risk, while improving security.

In a world where access control is crucial for the safety of residents, IntelliGuard stands out as a solution designed to prevent unwanted visitors from entering. With its video verification, remote access management, and smart gate reader technology, IntelliGuard ensures that small to medium-sized estates and complexes remain secure, while giving residents full control over who is allowed in.
