SecuriHeat ADW linear heat detector

SMART Fire & Safety 2025 Products & Solutions, Fire & Safety

If the SecuriHeat ADW linear heat detector from Securiton has flown somewhat under the radar in Africa so far, that is because it is an unusual device that uses a unique detection system. However, it is both highly sensitive and extremely robust, making the SecuriHeat ADW 535 a very useful addition to your heat detection stable.

Instead of cables, the ADW 535 uses sealed tubes positioned over the detection area – or next to a specific object – and a remotely positioned control unit detects pressure changes in the tubes brought about by changing temperature. Behind this simple principle is a sophisticated device that can self-test and calibrate, as well as discern the difference between ambient changes and a developing fire situation. Indeed, the SecuriHeat device even knows how to recognise a heat plume from an opening door or similar phenomenon, and uses its combination of rate-of-rise and maximum temperature alarm to offer early and reliable fire detection.

Securiton supplies the tubes for this device in a choice of copper, stainless steel or Teflon. Any of these options are capable of withstanding extreme environments. They are weatherproof, can cope with pressure-washing and many cleaning chemicals, and operate in such extreme temperatures that the tubing often survives a fire event unscathed. So far, SecuriHeat ADW has proven popular in the food manufacturing industry, for ATEX situations, and for use in very harsh outdoor or indoor environments. It looks set to be used in many more tough detection scenarios as African fire safety consultants and installers find further uses for the system.
