Access to data centre secured

Issue 7 2023 Access Control & Identity Management, Infrastructure

GBM is a Central American solutions integrator in the IT segment with a presence in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Miami, and Haiti. It provides all the components for an enterprise technology infrastructure with hardware, software, consulting, and specialised services to its customers.

GBM required a modern access control system to increase the security of its facilities in a productive environment without affecting the operation of the offices and the data centre, which are carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, whilst maintaining the design guidelines of its facilities.

Grupo COMUDISA, with the support of Tech Geeks Solutions, suggested that GBM install an access control and visitor management system using access equipment with different access technologies such as Suprema’s BioStation 2, X-Station 2, CoreStation controller with DM-20 expansions and XPass D2 RFID readers, so as to adapt to the specific needs of each access point; with BioStar 2 as the central management platform.

Background to solution

• Location: Guatemala.

Application: Access control, biometrics, visitor control.

Technology: Suprema Access Controller, Digital Biometrics, RFID, and mobile credential readers.

Project size: More than 100 collaborators, plus visitors.

o CoreStation (CS40): 1 unit.

o DM-20: 6 units.

o X-Station 2: 3 units.

o BioStation A2: 4 units.
