The latest security trends at Securex South Africa 2023

Held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, from 6 to 8 June 2023, Securex South Africa is not only the largest platform for security offerings on the continent, but also provides attendees with the opportunity to find out about current trends at the free-to-attend Securex Seminar, powered by UNISA.

“Security technology evolves at a blistering pace, so it’s important to keep up to date with changing trends in order to ensure maximised safety of human and personal assets. The Securex Seminar Theatre has gathered an impressive line-up of speakers who will be sharing great content,” says Mark Anderson, Portfolio Director at Specialised Exhibitions — a division of Montgomery Group.

Dorothy Nomdoe, Administrative Officer: Security Services, Western Cape Health and Wellness will talk about the WCGHW CCTV implementation project. Andreas Matthee, CEO of Tech4IR will focus on the benefits of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology for perimeter intrusion detection across several industry applications.

‘No Password, No Problem: The Future of Authentication in a Threatening World’ is the theme of this talk by Rami Kayyali, CTO of The Kernel. Rodney Taylor of Guardian Eye tackles the ‘Use of AI, machine learning and data analytics for security and cybersecurity’. Lizette Lancaster, Manager: Crime and Justice Information Hub, Justice and Violence Prevention Programme, Institute for Security Studies, Pretoria, will be unpacking SAPS crime statistics.

Michael Panyapanya, Lecturer, Department of Criminology & Security Science, UNISA Department of Criminology & Security Science, School of Criminal Justice, College of Law, University of South Africa, will discuss ‘security professionals’ perceptions of crime at OR Tambo International Airport: Towards sustainable solutions’.

Wialon’s (Stand D28) GPS tracking and geofencing technology, combined with the remote vehicle disabling and the option to integrate security technologies, can help fleet managers monitor their vehicles in real-time and respond quickly to safety incidents.

Eworks Manager (Stand B14) is job management software for field service companies. iCAM Video Telematics (Stand A08) allows companies to greatly enhance their safety and security capabilities, resulting in the optimisation of both their fleet businesses, and the performance of their individual drivers. Doculam (Stand FA04) offers identification and security solutions such as Magicard ID card printers, Garrett metal detectors, Alcovisor alcohol breathalysers, Mag Touch guard monitoring system and Watchdog body worn cameras.
