Invisible connection and tangible protection via cloud

Issue 2/3 2023 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection, Surveillance, Products & Solutions

Managing a robust monitoring system can be challenging and cumbersome for some users. Traditional methods of operating surveillance devices are not sufficient to accommodate the growing demand for remote and convenient monitoring options. Dahua Technology has launched its AirShield security solution that uses advanced, stable and reliable RF communication technology and cloud services, including, not only alarm hubs, various detectors and accessories, but also several software apps for end-users, installers and security companies.

The cloud-based mobile and PC apps enable end-users, installers, and security companies to remotely manage their alarm system and receive alarm events, anytime and anywhere. Users can add and delete devices and partitions, create users and edit permissions, configure system parameters, check device status, arm/disarm alarm system, etc.

All events, such as alarms, faults, arming/disarming and operations, can be sent to mobile and PC apps instantly via push notifications, phone calls or SMS. Through the images or videos from PIR-Cams and IPCs linkage with detectors, users can remotely verify alarm events. In addition, installers can provide customers with device health management service when managing their sites. Dahua can display ARC information on the mobile apps of users and installers if the ARC has signed up for a Converter account, making it easier for them to request alarm monitoring services. Some business interactions can also be completed online.

Aside from convenient interaction using cloud technology, AirShield also offers interconnection between the alarm hub and the NVR/XVR, and VTH via a network protocol, instead of the usual dry contact signal, enabling more functions and better user experience. On the VTH, users can arm/disarm the alarm system, receive alarm events, and view device status. The NVR/XVR allows for configuration of various linkage rules to provide alarm-video linkage, IPC-siren alarm, and arming/disarming of the alarm system linked to the NVR. What’s more, users can use the same mobile app to manage CCTV, alarm, VDP and other security systems.

In terms of integration, the AirShield’s converter forwards events received from hubs to the platform software of the alarm receiving centre (ARC) based on standard protocols such as SIA DC-09, Sur-Gard or the private protocol of the platform software itself. It receives the events from hubs through two channels, auto registration or cloud forwarding (TCP/IP and serial port). This ensures that the event information is delivered reliably at all times. The converter also manages all panels and events and supports customisation of private protocols for different platforms. Personnel in the ARC can flexibly configure event forwarding methods (TCP/IP or serial), protocols, and event types as needed; the platform software only needs to receive, record, and process these events.

Through efficient cloud technology, AirShield has transformed offline monitoring into online surveillance with higher efficiency and lower cost. This cloud-based security solution brings interconnection, integration and interaction in monitoring operation and offers a wide range of products that have similar functions, minimising the number of devices needed and saving installation and procurement costs.
