Smartphone capabilities and CCTV

CCTV Handbook 2022 Surveillance

We live in the information age where we have a hunger to know more. We spend countless hours trawling social media to satisfy our need to know more. This is mostly done from our smartphones or tablet devices. A small piece of technology that has taken over our world in many ways.

CCTV and the need to know more information is no different. CCTV apps are generally regarded as dumb. Most only giving live video and playback when you log into the system with limited functionality and not delivering any usable information to you. On many occasions, we find ourselves wondering if ‘someone is in my driveway’, ‘my son has come home from school’ or if an annoying troublemaker prominent on the neighbourhood watch is at it again.

Today technologies exist that can offer this functionality without breaking the bank. TVT understood the need to have more than just a CCTV app with basic live video and playback functionality. This is not only for distributors or installers, but more for the end users and the clients that work with the system daily. After all, they are the ones paying for the system. In essence, it is all about the features and providing information to you as and when needed.

Analytics designed for customer needs

TVT cameras and recorders are a marriage between the two devices. When working with TVT IP cameras, the model of camera deployed will determine the functionality and accessibility you will receive on the recorder, as well as the menu functions and more. For example, should you deploy a basic analytics camera in the TVT S3 range, you will receive access to basic analytics functions on the recorder. Should you deploy a TVT camera in the E3 range, you will have access to classification functions on the recorder where one can classify between cars, non-motorized vehicles and humans while deploying certain analytics like line crossing, intrusion and counting.

All the events generated and created from the camera will be relayed to the recorder and will then filter through to the TVT Super Live app where you can either receive push notifications based on these events or you will be able to search for them in a functional and effective way.

The images used with this article offer a few practical examples.

1. I’m expecting my son to come home after school. Gone are the days of waiting for a forgotten WhatsApp. I can just let technology do its thing and receive either a push notification on human intrusion or face detection notification from a TVT E3 series camera and NVR.

2. To take this further, we always know about troublemakers courtesy of the neighbourhood watch. Numberplates are circulated as and when they come up. Now these numberplates can work for you in knowing when that person passes your place of residence. This is achieved by the TVT A3-LR ANPR camera whereby you again have the ability to push up to 16 different libraries with custom notifications through to your smartphone.

Life should be simple, and information should make sense to you as a person. Information and the delivery thereof should meet your needs. Let Forbatt SA and its partners take you on a TVT experience. An experience you should see to believe.
