ZYTEQ Fire offers EN54 certified range

Issue 2 2022 Fire & Safety

Cape Town-based ZYTEQ Fire, a manufacturer and supplier of electronic fire detection equipment, offers a range of addressable, conventional and extinguishing equipment that is certified in Europe to the EN54 standards.

Compliance with these standards gives building owners, consulting engineers and installers confidence that the equipment being used has been tested to the highest international standards by test laboratories that are approved by the European Union. ZYTEQ is fully committed to compliance with these standards and urges all industry players to research the equipment they use to ensure it has been tested and certified to the relevant standards. Given the life safety nature of our industry, there should be no place for non-compliance.

The ZYTEQ Fire range of addressable and conventional detectors, manufactured at its factory in Cape Town, have been tested and certified to the following EN54 standards:

• EN 54 Part 3: Fire alarm devices – Sounders.

• EN 54 Part 7: Smoke detectors – Point smoke detectors using scattered light.

• EN 54 Part 23: Fire alarm devices – Visual alarm devices.

• EN 54 Part 5: Heat detectors – Point heat detectors.

The manufacturing facility is also audited annually by the certifying body in Europe to ensure compliance. As part of this compliance, the company is required to conduct regular testing of the products it produces, which includes random smoke testing on each production batch in its EN54 smoke tunnel.

ZYTEQ Fire has also announced it is the official supplier of fire detection equipment for the ‘people’s trains’ being manufactured by the Gibela Consortium in Nigel. This five-year project required development of an advanced train-based addressable fire detection system compliant with strict European rail standards.
