Cloud surveillance for safer campuses

Violence within educational facilities has sadly been increasing over the few past years and the protection of our children and educators alike is something that cannot be taken lightly.

Crimes that occur far too often include theft, vandalism, intimidation, and the usual assortment of South African crimes. Secutel Technologies offers a solution that allows for peace of mind to those who attend colleges and universities.

Locally developed and manufactured by Secutel Technologies, the SecuVue CVR (Cloud Video Recorder) allows control room operators/campus security services to monitor events, collect vital information, record events, and react accordingly.

The SecuVue CVR turns existing CCTV systems into intelligent sources of information. A single unit can support up to 64 cameras, allowing monitoring and surveillance from anywhere in the world. Snapshots are sent to the cloud in low resolution to save time and bandwidth. The platform allows control room operators and staff to deal with exceptions only, based on their unique set of business rules.

The SecuVue platform enables standard CCTV cameras to have access to vital and important analytics including:

Facial collection.

• Facial recognition.

• Intrusion detection.

• Heat mapping.

• People counting.

• Watchlist management.

• Notification management.

• Privacy and scene analysis (detect if an object was left behind/removed in a high-risk area).

• Licence plate recognition and collection.
