Impro integrates with Suprema

Issue 7 2020 News

Impro Technologies has expanded its integration with Suprema to incorporate the full range of biometric readers. The Suprema range comprises both fingerprint and facial recognition readers, which are now seamlessly integrated into Impro’s Access Portal access control software.

“We see great synergy between ourselves and Suprema, as we both share an entrepreneurial spirit and have built a reputation of innovation in the access control industry,” said Impro Technologies’ managing director Giles Calenborne.

“Access Portal is our premier access control software and in addition to offering a feature rich experience, customers benefit from a variety of third party integrations we’ve undertaken, such as our expanded Suprema offer. This provides customers with a one-stop software solution where they are able to manage all devices and users from a single hub – Access Portal.

“Another benefit of our Suprema partnership is the increased accessibility to biometric readers among all customers – especially facial recognition,” said Calenborne.

The global COVID-19 pandemic resulted in both Impro Technologies and Suprema working together to meet the rapid demand for touchless access control. “The pandemic resulted in many businesses turning to facial recognition in order to minimise any risk associated with users touching a device. This made our integration with Suprema’s FaceLite and FaceStation 2 facial recognition readers a high priority in order to fulfil those customer needs,” said Calenborne.

In these difficult times the innovative streak of both companies again came to the fore. Suprema quickly developed a thermal detection module for use with the FaceStation 2, as temperature checks become part of our “new normal”. The thermal kit can be used in both new and retrofit sites, and detects users with an elevated skin temperature and raises an alert if higher than the programmed threshold.

This new functionality has also been incorporated into Access Portal to provide users and businesses with additional protection, which also includes associated audit reports.
