Entrance control from Axis

Issue 4 2020 Access Control & Identity Management

With the current access control requirements turning to touchless and contactless solutions, customers need to start looking at alternative solutions to the standard finger biometric and touchplate access control.

Access control solutions from Axis offer flexibility, agility and open platforms that are fit for both today’s needs and tomorrow’s. Axis’ access control products are truly open and do not tie you into proprietary or pre-approved hardware and software. You can integrate best-of-breed options including out-of-the-box integration with your existing security systems.

The first contactless solution is the use of mobile devices to function as credentials in providing access to secured buildings, rooms and areas. This solution not only increases operational convenience and efficiency for today’s mobile-enabled workforces, but also diminishes the need to touch the door reader. It also provides a more cost effective and simpler way for companies to manage identification credentials.

The Axis mobile solution is accessed via the company’s partner, HID’s Mobile Access portal. The system is managed via the following process:

• The end user receives an activation code via email to gain access to the secured building.

• The HID Mobile Access app on the user’s mobile phone sends the user’s mobile credentials via Bluetooth to the HID reader.

• Mobile identity is passed from the reader to the Axis A1001 network door controller which acts as the gatekeeper by verifying the end user and granting access.

Axis Visitor Access, an add-on application for Axis Entry Manager software, makes it easy for small sites to grant visitors access using a QR code as a credential.

It allows visitors to independently enter your premises and move through pre-allocated areas, all the while allowing you to monitor and manage where these visitors are at any one time.

There is no need to be physically present to open doors or even buzz them in. Access can be easily granted to visitors for specific times and areas, and should someone change schedule or cancel, you can simply revoke or change their access as needed. You are always completely in control, knowing when your visitor has arrived.
