Elvey exclusive Aiphone distributor

Issue 3 2020 Access Control & Identity Management

Aiphone has appointed the Elvey Group as its official distributor in South Africa. The agreement, which came into effect on 1 April 2020, sees the Elvey Group companies – Elvey Security Technologies, TPA Distributors and Pentagon – distributing the entire range of Aiphone intercom solutions.

“Our team is geared up to introduce the full range, from smaller domestic applications like the JO series, through to large-scale residential solutions like the GT Series and IX Series, which allows for greater flexibility, covering more applications. We are also currently planning a series of roadshows to bring product awareness to a wider national audience,” says Elvey product manager, Anita Hermaans.

Multi-tenant video entry

The Aiphone GT Series allows tenants or guards to quickly and easily identify visitors before granting them entry into their building. There are a number of variants, all with enhanced security levels and user-friendliness as a common denominator.Multiple sites can connect across different buildings, over the same network, thereby centralising security for large campuses and multi-building communities.

The GT Series allows for an enterprise system capacity of 480 entrance stations, 5000 tenant stations and 96 video guard stations. A standard system can have up to five entrance stations, two video guard stations, and 48 tenant stations, while an expanded system can have up to 16 entrance stations, four video guard stations, and 500 tenant stations. All models can be programmed remotely and allow for selective door release.

Ease of use is provided through software, which allows for quick and easy system maintenance. In addition, hassle-free tenant directory updates can be promptly performed on-site with an NFC-equipped device or even remotely over the same network.

IX Series 2 peer-to-peer IP video intercom

The IX Series 2 offers the power of an enterprise platform with the simplicity of a single system, with system capability of 5 000+ door stations and 5 000+ master stations.

“This is a platform for enterprise security and communications that grows with you. It expands your network across multiple security layers for one powerful solution. As an added benefit, there are no annual Aiphone licensing fees or proprietary servers,” says Hermaans.

The S IP capability means that users can register any IX Series 2 station with Cisco unified call manager, allowing them to place or forward calls to an external phone number. Master stations can now serve a dual role as a single command point, controlling security layers such as access control and emergency communications.

With picture-in-picture, master stations can toggle between ONVIF Profile S IP cameras and the new 1.3 megapixel cameras on IX Series 2 video stations. Line supervision ensures all stations are online while device check verifies every button, station speaker, and microphone are operating properly.

“The Aiphone range provides enhanced security for small to enterprise level installations at residential estates, commercial sites, industrial facilities, schools, campuses, parking garages, retail, emergency call and correctional applications. The Elvey Group team is able to advise on a number of integrated solutions that include the Aiphone together with access control and surveillance technology,” says Hermaans.
