Keeping track of rail weighing operations

March 2003 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration Conferences & Events

Railweight automatic train weighing systems, which have been monitoring truck loads for 45 years, are now offered with further enhancements.

The X-Line represents a new generation of coupled and in-motion train weighing systems and offers a simple yet accurate and robust method of verifying wagon weights at a cost effective price. The design is quick and easy to install on any rail type - and unlike traditional systems requires no expensive track disturbance or extensive excavations.

The system uses detachable transducers fitted to the rail making it easy to relocate and reposition at any suitable location. This eliminates the costs that would otherwise be incurred when disturbing rail infrastructure. The simple nature of the installation also permits the system to be fully operational within a couple of hours.

X-Line's fully automatic technology is employed in a diverse range of applications, from static weighing and loading of trucks to monitoring tramming underground, to weighing and generating of records for transport of a diverse range of applications. The design makes the X-Line virtually impervious to weather and vandalism, as well as mechanical and thermal damage - keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.

The Railweight system is available from Autotech Weighing Systems, which supplies a diverse range of weighing products - from laboratory balances to automatic high speed bagging and palletising systems, in-motion train weighing and on board vehicle weighing systems. The company holds the sole agency for Railweight, Weighline, Chronos Richardson and Tamtron.
